About Terri

I look forward to every opportunity to build a stronger community by helping individuals and families find a better way of living in today’s world.

I was born and raised in the Los Angeles South Bay and have resided here with my husband for over 30 years. We have had a tremendously rewarding and challenging life pursuing fulfilling careers, raising our children, and caring for our parents to the end of their lives. Treasures Within Family Counseling, Inc. is the culmination of a journey that now allows me to give back to a community that has given me so much.

I grew up and remain legally blind with very limited vision.  Along the way I acquired an important guide, my seeing-eye dog, Pontero. He is with me every day in spirit (as I lost him to a rare cancer) but he remains with me in the treasures he brought to me and the work I do with my clients.  What we learned in our time together is a powerful gift of empathy and unconditional love.

In learning to overcome the obstacles of living in this world with limited vision, along with the myriad of challenges and changes of growing up, I gained tremendous insight to the human condition. I have a M.S. in Marital and Family Therapy, a B.A. in Communications, and clinical training working with a diverse population of all ages, multiple ethnicities, cultures, and beliefs. Prior to going into private practice, I worked for years at a community counseling center. It is here that I really developed my passion for helping families create a more fulfilling way of relating to each other and living life on purpose.

My limited vision has provided me with a unique ability to see people for who they really are. This allows for a very authentic and meaningful connection. Building upon my strengths and appreciating my weaknesses has provided me with a valuable approach to living. And I hope it will prove to be of service to you as well.
